Product updates: net bags, paper bags and ventilated FIBCs (big bags)

At LC Packaging, we continue to invest in our colleagues and in expanding our production facilities. In addition to this, together with our trusted long-term production partners, we continue to refine our products. These long-term partnerships allow for increased efficiency and communication and ongoing development and improvement of our products.
We have summarised some of our latest developments for the agricultural markets.
Net bags: the benefits of rotogravure label printing
Net bags are not only great for packing and transporting you products, they also offer excellent marketing opportunities. The latest techniques in rotogravure printing offer consistent high quality labels with photo quality printing. One of our trusted production partners has already invested in an 8 colour rotogravure machine.
The machine prints the image using engraved cylinders. To prevent scuffing or other damage to the printed label, we also offer reverse printing – a printing process that allows for the artwork to be visible through the label. We offer rotogravure printed labels in 10, 15 and 20 cm. Because of the mesh of the bags and the size of the labels, optimal ventilation for your products is assured.
Your one stop shop for paper bags
LC Packaging UK introduced its own paper bags for potatoes in partnership with one of our production partners. The bags are of high quality, sturdy, light weight and can be used for multiple purposes and a variety of products. With an excellent recycling infrastructure in place, paper bags are also environmentally friendly. The bags can be printed in up to four colours at the production facility or in our own warehouses. LC Packaging can assist in the designing process and offers accessories such as yarn; a one stop shop for paper bags!
Leno becoming more popular
Raschel and Leno (Baxmatic) bags are highly suitable packaging for the transport, handling and storage of products up to 30 kg. Raschel bags are knitted PE bags and available as loose bags for manual packing or on a roll for automated packing. They are produced by our production partners in China and Europe. Leno bags are woven PP bags with a higher quality appearance, one of the main reasons we see a clear rise in demand for Leno bags in Western Europe.
Leno bags are known for keeping their shape and tensile strength and with high quality printed labels, they are an excellent marketing choice. They can be produced for manual filling, semi-automatic filling or fully automatic filling with a Baxmatic machine. Leno bags are available in various sizes to accommodate various products, up to a carrying weight of about 20-30 kg.
Keeping produce fresh during transport with ventilated FIBCs (big bags)
Ventilation is of the utmost importance when transporting agricultural products. Water bearing products such as potatoes, carrots or onions, when transported over long distances and also several temperature zones can suffer what is known as a temperature-shock. This process causes the produce to start to “sweat” or to exude moisture. This moisture speeds up the growth of molds and also advances the natural deterioration of the product.
Ventilated FIBCs (big bags) slow this process. With an open top and airstrips for ventilation on the sides and bottom, ventilated big bags are a relatively cheap and easy transport packaging that can accommodate up to 1,250 kilo.
Each FIBC can be tailor-made to suit each company’s production process and logistical services so the product arrives in the best condition possible. They can be printed on and are suitable for reuse depending on the specifications.
