To ensure wastewater is not harmful to the environment, Pacapime has installed a Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system in its production facility in Halle, Belgium. The water treatment installation purifies 22,000 liters of wastewater per day. The DAF System is completely new to the facility and allows Pacapime to discharge water in compliance with the strictest discharge standards into the river Zenne.
DAF is a water treatment process that clarifies wastewater by the removal of suspended matter such as oil or solids. The removal is achieved by dissolving air in the water or wastewater under pressure and then releasing the air at atmospheric pressure in a flotation tank basin. The released air forms tiny bubbles which adhere to the suspended matter causing the suspended matter to float to the surface of the water where it may then be removed by a skimming device.
Pacapime is a family-owned business with whom LC Packaging shares 50/50 company shares. It is one of the largest producers of corrugated board in Europe. The company predominantly specialises in ready-to-use packaging for the food sector in an extensive variety of sizes with high definition Flexo printing, manufactured in their production facilities in Belgium and Hungary.
