The LC Packaging Green Office Campaign, which was first launched in 2020, has been concluded. 12 LC Packaging locations - offices, warehouses, and manufacturing sites, signed up and committed to actively minimising their environmental footprint before 2022. Each location was given their own ambitious targets, tailor-made to their situations.
Since 2016, LC Packaging conducts an annual environmental footprint research to understand more about its impact, monitor its use of recourses and identify areas in which it can improve or use resources more efficiently. In this calculation global water consumption, energy use, CO2e emissions and waste production are measured.
Based on the first calculations in 2016, four goals were set for 2022:
The Green Office Campaign was set up as a driver for a final sprint in achieving these four goals.
Unfortunately, not all goals were met as the company has grown significantly over the last years. The number of employees at LC Packaging increased by 60% and two production facilities were built. Nevertheless, both the waste reduction goal and CO2e emissions reduction goal were achieved by both FIBC production facilities.
Also, many offices did reach some of their goals. Four locations managed to achieve all of their goals. By doing so, they have not only minimised LC’s impact on the environment, they have also been rewarded €5,000 to donate to their local charities. The money was donated to local foodbanks and community projects to further the quality of life of local communities.
Even though, compared to 2016, the CO2e emissions and waste production related to LC Packaging offices and warehouses have decreased, the total energy use and water consumption has increased due to the growth of the company. That means there is a lot of work to be done.
Therefore, LC Packaging is stepping up its game. With the 2030 Ambition Sustainability strategy, the company has sharpened its focus and set new goals. By 2030, all offices and warehouse have to have reached the net-zero status. Meaning, 100% use of renewable energy and zero greenhouse gas emissions. It is time to step up!
