As part of their Sedex membership, LC Shankar has been welcomed as a member of Sedex and has succesfully completed its first SMETA audit earlier this year. The SMETA audit is the Ethical Trading Audit for Sedex members and one of the most widely used ethical audit formats in the world. SMETA assesses a site based on their organisation’s standards of labour, health and safety, environment and business ethics; key areas for assessing an organisation’s responsible business practices and meeting social compliance. By completing the SMETA audit, LC Shankar is now part of the world’s leading community for responsible business, sourcing and improving ethical standards and working conditions within the supply chain.
Becoming a member of Sedex and performing SMETA audits when requested by LC Packaging is one of the requirements of our Global Supplier Code of Conduct. We have over 80 suppliers around the world. As our customers and other stakeholders, such as governments and auditors, request proof of compliance and we ourselves could benefit of one structured way of managing our suppliers we have decided to introduce our Global Supplier Code of Conduct. The 2019 Global Supplier Code of Conduct prescribes values and principles to which we have committed worldwide: non-negotiable standards that we ask our production partners to respect and to adhere to when conducting business. The document needs to be signed by all our Partners. Like our Partners, our own production facilities also need to comply with and sign our Global Supplier Code of Conduct.
