LC Packaging acquires Karl Weiterer GmbH

7 September 2022

- Press release -

International packaging distributor and manufacturer LC Packaging has officially acquired all shares in Karl Weiterer Sack- und Planenfabrik GmbH (Weiterer) in Algermissen, Germany, as of 1 October 2022. Weiterer focuses on servicing the agricultural sector in Germany with transport packaging solutions like net bags, jute bags and FIBCs, and has been doing so for 104 years. Weiterer will become a subsidiary of LC Packaging GmbH, the German affiliate of LC Packaging located in Rheine, but will continue to operate under its existing name.

The acquisition follows a partnership of over 50 years between both family businesses. Since 2016, LC Packaging was shareholder in Weiterer. For LC Packaging, Weiterer is an important addition to its existing business in Germany as it allows to better support the local market in Germany. Weiterer customers will be able to benefit from LC Packaging’s international network, long-term partnerships, and sustainability initiatives for their packaging solutions.

Thorsten Classen, Managing Director LC Packaging GmbH: “We are very excited to take this partnership to the next level and include Weiterer in the LC Packaging brand. Like LC Packaging, Weiterer is a family business providing high-quality services to its customers and partners. That won’t change under LC Packaging’s leadership. We look forward to a successful future”.

Birgit Weiterer, Managing Director Weiterer: “LC Packaging and Weiterer have a strong partnership and are connected by a long-standing and trusting cooperation. Combined, we have more than 200 years of know-how and experience in the packaging industry, and are well prepared to master future challenges and expand our agricultural and industrial packaging services.”
