Dutch-Bangla Pack Ltd. (DBPL) hosted a local training programme focused on advancing sustainability and promoting clean energy within our operations, with the support of FMO (the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank). As a leading producer of Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers (FIBCs) in Bangladesh, DBPL is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and driving environmental sustainability. The goal with this training is to create awareness on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and emissions reduction, as well as to prepare unskilled people for potential jobs in energy management!
Gaining the right knowledge
This two-month training programme covers critical areas such as carbon emission reduction, project management, and the installation, operation, and maintenance of solar panels. Additionally, participants will receive training on ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 standards, providing them with the skills to implement effective energy and environmental management systems.
The programme involved 30 participants, including current DBPL employees and recent graduates from local universities. It aims to provide the participants with practical knowledge, advocacy skills, and job readiness in the renewable energy sector.
Results and next steps
This initiative is part of DBPL's broader commitment to sustainability and its ongoing efforts to minimise environmental impact. And with great results, since DBPL hired four of the participants who finished the training.
DBPL also plans to conduct a third-party energy audit, after which a detailed roadmap for energy efficiency will be developed. Employees who have completed the training, along with newly recruited participants from the program, will be responsible for implementing this energy efficiency plan.
