LC Packaging takes new step in rPP with Healix

LC Packaging has found a new partner in recycling: Healix. Together, we will work on producing high-quality rPP made from Post Consumer Recycling (PCR) materials. Recycling used big bags is not easy, and it is even harder to achieve a good quality PCR-rPP that can be used to produce ‘new’ big bags.
To produce high-quality, pure PCR-rPP requires careful feedstock control, sharp knives to shred, a well-developed washing system and wastewater treatment, and a high level of filtration. Currently, Healix is running a trial with 10 tonnes of FIBCs to check the quality of the recycled material output, the biggest recycling trail conducted by LC Packaging so far. During the trial, Healix will be using LC Packaging’s first ever batch of PCR-rPP bags with 30% recycled materials from used big bags for transportation during and after the recycling process. A promising venture that offers exciting possibilities!
The next step in PCR-rPP production
With 10 tonnes of high-quality PCR-rPP we will be able to send rPP material to all major FIBC production partners and take a solid next step in the production of PCR-rPP big bags. For those with whom we have already worked on producing PCR-rPP big bags, this means taking new steps to try increase the maximum percentage of recycled content that we can achieve as we aim to reach our goal of 30% PCR-rPP with all our production partners. Some of the material will also be shared with our partner in machinery, Starlinger, to test filtration systems that might be added to our production process in the future.
