LC Packaging acquires Karl Weiterer GmbH

International packaging distributor and manufacturer LC Packaging has officially acquired all shares in Karl Weiterer Sack- und Planenfabrik GmbH (Weiterer) in Algermissen, Germany, as of 1 October 2022. Weiterer focuses on servicing the agricultural sector in Germany with transport packaging solutions like net bags, jute bags and FIBCs, and has been doing so for 104 years. Weiterer will become a subsidiary of LC Packaging GmbH, the German affiliate of LC Packaging located in Rheine, but will continue to operate under its existing name.
The acquisition follows a partnership of over 50 years between both family businesses. Since 2016, LC Packaging was shareholder in Weiterer. For LC Packaging, Weiterer is an important addition to its existing business in Germany as it allows to better support the local market in Germany. Weiterer customers will be able to benefit from LC Packaging’s international network, long-term partnerships, and sustainability initiatives for their packaging solutions.

Karl Weiterer Sack- und Planenfabrik GmbH, Weiterer was founded in 1918 by Carl Weiterer, who started trading in jute bags as well as repairing and washing sugar and fertilizer sacks. With its 30 employees, Weiterer services the agricultural sector in Germany, selling big bags, jute, rashel, PP, PE, cotton, and paper, but also sewing yarn and sewing machines to be placed at a customer’s location, as well as accessories to close bags or load them safely on pallets.
Weiterer has special machinery for labeling and cutting raschel bags on rolls and its own printing service for jute and polypropylene bags in its 6,000m2 warehouse, packed with products to excel in short-term deliveries.
