LC Packaging Ireland - AGRI:
“Finger on the pulse to our customer’s needs”

LC Packaging Ireland serves the Island of Ireland, both north and south. We leverage our scale and experience by using the strength and knowledge of the LC group internationally, but act locally where we focus on quality and service for our customers, be they large or small.

Donach Gartlan, MD at LC Packaging Ireland, has been with the company since its inception in July 2009. “We are very close knit team with our finger on the pulse to our customers’ needs”, says Donach. “People are most important to us, whether that be our own team here, our production partners or you as our customer. Apart from that, we take the impact we have on the planet and peoples’ standard of living very seriously. Examples of this are the LC Supports Foundation and our SA8000 award for social accountability at our production locations. Last but not least, we have been one of the 1% of companies participating in the EcoVadis assessment who have achieved the EcoVadis Platinum medal.”

Extensive product portfolio

Thanks to its extensive product portfolio, LC Packaging Ireland serves a wide range of customers in different markets. Donach: “We offer woven PP bags, photo-quality BOPP bags, leno and monofilament net bags, tubular netting, PE bags, standard and ventilated FIBCs and paper bags. With these products, we serve markets such as Solid fuel, Animal feed, Shellfish and Produce for example. Besides, we are always eager to listen to new potential customers from other markets.”

The impact of Brexit

For companies in Ireland, Brexit has thrown up several challenges and will continue to do so. For instance from the first of October, it could become more difficult to export food and agricultural products from Ireland due to extra checks and inspections. According to Donach, “it is of key importance for our customers to be prepared and investigate implication and costs now”. On the bright side, Brexit has also presented opportunities. Donach: “Some companies have now realised that it is better from a cost, efficiency, quality and service point of view to buy from a company on the Island of Ireland.”

COVID-19 related challenges: the importance of thinking ahead

The COVID-19 pandemic puts pressure on our supply chain: ongoing issues such as shipment delays and increasing freight rates influence our import shipments. “By offering the opportunity to hold stock for an agreed amount of time, we are responding to the needs of our customers in these time of uncertainty”, says Donach. He adds: “Our advice is to start ordering now in order to secure the availability of your packaging.”

Stay tuned for new developments!

“On multiple levels, we have some exciting new developments on the horizon”, Donach explains. “We have recently launched LC Portal, a new call off portal where customers can place orders from stock and view their stock. Our new web shop should be running by the end of the year. On the production side, the expansion of our SA8000 certified FIBC production location Dutch-Bangla Pack Ltd. will be ready before the end of the year and we are continuously working on a circular solution for our FIBCs.”

Having said all this, we fully believe in LC’s values of Loyal, Committed and Reliable and again to our utmost to abide by these values every day. Donach concludes: “would you like to learn more about our way of working or are you looking for any info regarding our service or products? Please feel free to contact me, or contact our office at +353 7491 56036 .”
